We combined visual storytelling, modern patterns and motion, to help showcase this leading chambers' expertise with a refreshed brand identity and new CMS website.
THE BACKSTORY
Formed in 2001, Landmark Chambers has grown in both size and reputation and is home to over 100 barristers practicing across a spectrum of specialist areas in planning, Environment, Public and Property law.
THE PROBLEM
The marketing team were working with a very content-heavy, complicated website that was no longer serving the needs of chambers and its barristers. With new content frequently being created, the website had become very large, and confusing to navigate. The marketing team were in need of a new site where content could be better organised, and streamlined to create a more intuitive user experience.
THE SOLUTION
Working with the marketing team and a steering group of barristers, we conducted in-depth research and held a series of workshops to understand the teams grievances with the current website and also to present our solutions for better ways of structuring the site.
Significant to this project, was the implementation of a new mega menu navigation system. Due to the size of the site, a lot of relevant content was hidden within confusing user journeys, the inclusion of the mega menu allowed the sites content to be viewed in one, easy to access location which has greatly reduced the number of clicks required to find content. We also re-structured the way information was nested, and organised information into more logical categories to improve user experiences.
An additional part of our solution was a complete refresh to the brands visual identity. We updated the brands logo, swapping fonts for one with a more modern feel that would compliment the new cleaner website, and developed dynamic update to their visual identity. We built out the colour palette with tones to compliment their heritage orange but allow some flexibility to the brand and how they communicate. We also developed a suite of abstract patterns influenced by the built environment to allow opportunity for versatility within designs, and can be a clear visual signpost to the brand – helping to differentiate from competitors.
