Meet Nnamdi

Name: Nnamdi
Job Title: Midweight Designer

The best part of my job is…

“When everything clicks into place visually. Making everything work harmoniously feels akin to completing a complex puzzle; it’s immensely satisfying.”

How did you start your career in design?

“Like most designers, I took an interest in drawing at a young age, but I really got into spraypaint graffiti around year 9. My art teacher took notice and introduced me to some design books which piqued my interest. Having some highly competitive friends in art and design took me to pursue it as a career. ”

What does a typical day look like for you?

“Over a strong coffee, I browse my Panda 5 browser extension for a quick boast of inspiration before jumping into emails and reading feedback. Once I’ve got a concrete list of things to do, I go down based on priority.”

What are the best tools you use?

“All of the creative cloud suite based on the situation.”

What work are you most proud of?

“Last year, I built a medical website with a very technically inclined client team with very disparate tastes and was able to make something that pleased all of them whilst ensuring that it was digestible to more laymen customers.”

What excites you about the world of design?

“It’s constant adaptability. Other than just changing trends in design, new technologies or systems always open new gateways for creativity and design. You’re rarely bored as a designer.”

What do you do to spark inspiration or creativity?

“I have a few sites I visit to get the juices following, but if that doesn’t work for whatever reason, I run back to Pinterest and rummage through the things I’ve seen over the years.”

What is the best design book you’ve read?

“Know your onions, it was a fairly basic book I read when just starting out, but it really laid into me the foundations of things they don’t quite teach you when studying.”

What’s your favourite thing to do outside of work?

“I’m primarily a socialiser, but I’m getting old. Before, it was going to bars and clubs. Now it’s going to bars and cafes.”

If you were famous, what would it be for?

“Well, hopefully not that time when [REDACTED]. But probably [REDACTED].”

What is your most used emoji?

“Rolling on the floor laughing. I am hilarious, so I laugh at my own jokes a lot.”

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

“Brain Tyree Henry is older than me but probably a great choice. Winston Duke, if I hit the gym and photoshop enough of my photos.”
